The Tampon Tax

Hello Everybody!

So today's post is going to be a bit different to normal, but if you live in the UK then you should definitely read this.

If you didn't know already, in the UK sanitary products are taxed. This is at a lower than usual rate, but still taxed. Women are being taxed for essential items to deal with something that is completely out of our control! Not to mention the fact that lack of sanitary products has been known to damage health. If that didn't make you angry enough, it turns out that on the list of essential items are items such as helicopters and cake decorations. These so called 'essentials' carry a 0 percent tax rate while sanitary products have 5 percent. Women are being taxed for being women.

The petition to change this is currently on 185,000 signatures, it would be great if you could add yours.

Love, Phoebe x

  1. That is terrible! I don't live in the UK but taxing women on what they need is horrible. Maybe if condoms were taxed, I'd feel better but...I don't

  2. That is awful. I don't live in the UK, but to hear of that is pretty ridiculous. Women shouldn't be taxed on products required for women.
