A Glimpse Of Venice, Italy

Hello Everyone!

My friend is currently on a 6 week volunteer placement in the beautiful Italian city Venice. She loves travelling and is working in a hostel right in the centre of town.

One month ago myself and another friend booked a spontaneous trip to visit her and set off for a four day break. We had a great time exploring the area and taking so many photos! I thought I would give you a glimpse of this trip through some of the many photos that I took.

The main streets were packed with tourists but a short walk would take you to calm cobbled paths with tall classic Venice homes.

The gondolas were very expensive so we didn't bother going on one but appreciated how traditional and pretty they looked on the canals as we passed over the bridges.

We sampled many of the expensive cocktails and enjoyed eating in the beautiful restaurants. Although one restaurant near our hotel definitely ripped us off!

Down some backstreets my friend showed us this little bookshop. It had books in a gondola, stairs made from books and a fire exit straight into the canal!

We took a boat to another island called Murano where we saw a demonstration of the making of a glass bowl. It was fascinating and so clever!

We also visited Burano which had the most colourful buildings! It was so pretty.

In the evening we went up Campanile di San Marco (the tower in the main square) and watched the sunset.

Have you ever been to Venice?

Summer Favourites

Hello Everybody!

Its that time again here on Phoebe's Diaries: Seasonal favourites time! As you know, I don't use enough products to get away with monthly favourites so I do less frequent seasonal favourites instead.

YSL Touche Eclat Foundation

This foundation is beautiful and glowing! I have worn it non stop this summer as it looks so nice on my skin. Initially I did think that it was slightly too dark for my skin colour but it turns out it is fine. In fact, it is more that fine. It is perfect.

Clinique 'All About Eyes' Eye Cream

This eye cream is amazing and such a luxury! (I know, it is very expensive) But it feels so silky and beautiful when applied. Definitely check this out if you feel like a splurge on skincare because it is now one of my staples.

MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer

This concealer is really good and provides a pretty full coverage. I have used this so much this summer when I couldn't be bothered to wear foundation so I just used this instead! You also get a lot of concealer so it should last for ages.

Benefit They're Real! Mascara

This mascara is my new favourite thing! My eyelashes have never looked so volumized but at the same time, this mascara separates and defines individual lashes too! A great product.

Skinny Dip Donut Phone Case

I got this phone case pretty recently and I love it! It looks so cute and it slightly see through so you can still see the silver of my phone through the back. You can buy this from Skinny Dip online.

Rimmel Kate Lipstick in 03

I love this lipstick! It looks so good with a bronzy makeup look, as you can see in my youtube video here. The whole range is good but this colour is my favourite.

Pretty Little Liars

I couldn't write this post without including this. I began watching the first season of PLL in around June and didn't stop watching it until the season 6 mid season finale. It is such a good show and grips you from the start (although the finale was disappointing... am I right or nah? discuss in the comments). Definitely check it out even if you know who A is because there are different people involved before this person, you will love it!

Humans

This is another TV show that you can now watch on 4OD if you want to. It is set in the future when robots (looking identical to humans) are used as servants and is generally so good, intriguing and very unique. Definitely check this one out too.

Alt J

This band's latest album 'This Is All Yours' has been my summer soundtrack! So amazingly unique, I just love their songs so much. I was also lucky enough to see them live when I was front row at Reading festival this summer which was so cool!

Meg Says

For some reason I didn't include a youtube favourite in my Spring Favourites but this time I have one to share with you. Meg Says is a relatively small youtuber but she is growing so fast! She does mainly beauty videos but also talks about her illness M.E (which I wasn't aware of before I watched her), lifestyle and fashion. I would highly recommend subscribing because she is going to be big! See her channel here.

What have you been loving this summer? Let me know in the comments.

Milani Baked Powder Blush | Luminoso

Hello Everybody!

I have heard so much about Milani as a brand for so long and was always so annoyed that I couldn't get it here in the UK. But I found out recently that this gorgeous blusher was available to buy on the UK Amazon!! I was so happy haha!

This is one of their 'Baked Powder Blush's and looks absolutely amazing. I bought the shade Luminoso because KathleenLights on youtube has said in the past that this is her absolute favourite so I just had to get it!

As you can see from the photos this shade is a corally-pink and looks amazing on the skin. The application is smooth and the blusher is very pigmented so a little goes a long way. It has a very slight shimmer which looks amazingly natural - I just love it!

I also love the packaging. It is plastic and pretty and gold so looks lovely for a drugstore product. It also comes with a mirror and brush. I don't like the brush very much so I won't be using it but I still love the product all the same!

Have you tried anything from Milani? And if you have, what should I buy next?!

MAC Hue | Lipstick Swatches for Pale Skin

Hello Everybody!

This is my final post on my MAC lipsticks (I hope they were helpful, you can find the others linked and the bottom of this post).

This one is called Hue and I love it!

It is a nude lipstick that is so easy to wear and actually suits my pale skin tone! I have also seen this look great on loads of different skin tones too.

I also love the glaze finish as it is sheer and glossy, making it easy to apply. I think it just looks great and even seems to  give the illusion of bigger lips.

This is the MAC lipstick that I have definitely worn the most as it is a great everyday colour. Once again, I hope this post was helpful to you :)

MAC Crosswires | Lipstick Swatches for Pale Skin

Hello Everybody!

The next lipstick I have to show you is Crosswires, the first MAC lipstick I bought (links to the others at the bottom of the page remember).

This is the brightest and definitely the one I wear the least as I don't tend to wear it in the day, although there's nothing wrong with doing that!

It is a bright pinky-corally colour and I think it looks great against my pale skin. Although does have the tendency to make your teeth more on the yellow side which has put me off wearing it. It is very pigmented though so if you love bright colours then this is one to definitely check out!

The finish is a cremesheen so has an opaque colour with a creamy consistency. For some reason, even though they are the same finish, I actually prefer this application to Creme Cup.

I hope this was helpful if you are currently looking for your perfect MAC lipstick! I have one more on the way next week. In the mean time check out the other posts below :)

Santorini, Greece

Hello Everybody!

Last week I was on holiday in Greece with my family (thank you scheduled posts haha). We went to the beautiful island of Santorini and I took so many lovely photos I just had to share them with you on here.

I love reading and the book I read on holiday this year was Paper Towns by John Green. It is a relatively short book so I read it so quickly and did enjoy it. I can do a full post about it if that is something you would all like to read?

We also spent a whole day going on a boat trip around the island. It was such a fun day and I even managed to climb the volcano without dying (it was so hot I honestly thought I might haha)

We stopped for lunch at this restaurant right on the sea which was so calming and beautiful.

Oia was one of my favourite places on the island. The cute little white houses looked amazing against the blue of the sea. I also risked heat stroke here by refusing to take a donkey ride up the massive cliffside (I thought it was cruel..) from the boat to the town, so I walked instead! I appreciated the exercise though.

We watched the sunset which was stunning and I took way too many photos. It was super busy at this time of day though.

The other beautiful town on the island is Thira which I didn't like as much as Oia but it was still stunning.

We had our dinner here in a restaurant overlooking the bay and it was honestly so beautiful. I couldn't stop staring at the view for the whole meal.

We looked around both towns many times and I really loved it.

We also spent lots of our time walking down Perissa beach, looking in museums, eating food (of course) and drinking beautiful cocktails.

Look how pretty!

I would definitely go to a Greek island again on holiday. I had such a nice time. Have you ever been to one? And have you been anywhere this summer? See you in my next post for more MAC lipsticks and a few more makeup reviews are coming soon!

P.S. I also have decided I will be changing my url to phoebes-diaries.blogspot.co.uk but don't worry if you are following me on bloglovin, they will transfer all my followers for me.
